This past week had a lot of action going on.
This week you can find me in 4 different carnivals:
I had a guest post this week:
I wrote an article for Frugal Dad which a lot of commenters seemed to really enjoy. It was titled The Three Most Influential Lessons My Parents Taught Me.

Welcome to the 9th installation of the Friday webcomics.
This argument, nature versus nurture, has come up in arguments in many different circles.
The nature versus nurture debates concern the relative importance of an individual’s innate qualities (“nature”, i.e. nativism, or innatism) versus personal experiences (“nurture”, i.e. empiricism or behaviorism) in determining or causing individual differences in physical and behavioral traits. [wiki]
What characteristics are innate? What characteristics are developed by experiences and the environment?
And why is this thought process important?

For those of you that are visiting after reading my post @ Frugal Dad, thanks for stopping by I appreciate it!
My blog’s content is mainly personal finance. However, I like to consider it “sensible” personal finance. I won’t write much about making my own laundry detergent because quite frankly that is too much effort for me! However, I will certainly write about how to get rid of your cable bill or repair your own bicycle as the cost savings could be huge.
I think you will find a lot of useful information on this site. Whether my content is relevant to you or someone you know, I urge you to subscribe to my site’s feed for a week or two and see if you like what you read.

I mentioned in a previous post that networking is something I need to get better at. Why? A good network can get you better jobs, a better chance of admission into graduate school, sporting event tickets, and more. Wait… sporting event tickets? Yup! I have gotten quite a few tickets to sports games by networking with divisions in my company that I normally wouldn’t deal with. When an event comes around and they have a few extra tickets who do they call? Me, of course! The friendly and intelligent guy from the operations/supply chain side of the business. Ok, enough patting myself on the back. Networking does have its benefits.
I would even venture to say that every blogger will agree that networking is a great way to add value to YOU.

Hopefully everyone has filed their taxes already. Hopefully you got a small yet decent refund. And if you owed money… my apologies!
If you haven’t filed taxes yet, make sure to file for an extension. Here is the IRS page that explains how to do so.
Fun Facts About Taxes
- Taxes throughout history are quite interesting. When the British levied taxes on the colonies, we were not happy… to say the least. But England did need to fund a war, right? We all know how this ended up…
- When we finally separated ourselves and created the Articles of Confederation we made sure to not include a national tax system. Isn’t that an argument from many… that donations will take the place of taxes if tax rates are lowered? But I digress, the states soon realized they were going bankrupt.
