All too often I think parents overlook those simple things to discuss before their children move out. College is a crazy time for both parents and kids but your list of things to talk about is a great start. Person finance is one of those HIGHLY important issues that usually gets glossed over by parents until their kid calls them with a huge credit card debt to pay. When you mention creating an online budget and using gift cards I think this is where prepaid debit cards would work wonders. That way, you and your parents both can view your spending/budgeting online no matter how far away your are, and they can always reload money onto the card whenever you need it. Great post. He would "volunteer" to pay for utilities. So he would pay on his parents credit card and then have us all pay him cash/check. He also volunteered to pay for meals a lot when he needed some extra cash. I felt bad for his parents :/ @ChristianPF,
