About the only plus I could see if it motivates people who have been neglecting medical care to go in and get checked out, like Paul mentioned.  But that could be accomplished by advertising more flexible payment rates.  I can&#039;t imagine this will end well...

		<description>I had never heard of this before, but you&#039;re absolutely right: it sounds like a horrible idea.  There should be any number of alternate, better ways to handle your health care costs.  Your suggestion of a payment plan would definitely be my first choice.

It might be a motivation for people who&#039;ve desperately needed to get into a doctor to finally go, but that&#039;s about the only semi shiny side I can see to this coin.
