I feel like I have been losing track of these carnivals. I need to put an Outlook reminder in my calendar so that every Tuesday I submit to the Carnival of Personal Finance, every Wednesday I submit to the Festival of Frugality, and so on.. Just am losing track I have so much going on.
One thing that is taking up a lot of my time is work, obviously. A second is reading, cause I feel like I have been missing out on that a lot since starting the blog. And then their is site design. If you haven’t stopped by my page lately, I have changed up the actual post pages a bit. There is now some more author info and related articles/posts. Take a look if you haven’t!
Moving on, here are all the important links for the week:
I was in 3 carnivals:
- Wise Bread hosted the Carnival of Personal Finance and paid some link love forward by including my article Spring Cleaning Checklist: Medicine Cabinet.
- Stretchy Dollar hosted the Money Hacks Carnival and honored me by including Roadside Emergency Kit: What to Include.
- Financial Highway hosted the Carnival of 20 Somethings and included my article How Much Did That Shower Cost? Use a Low-Flow Shower Head!.
Guest Posts & All-Star Mentions
If you would like to check out some posts I have been writing for other blogs, check out my guest posts page which I will keep up to date. This week I added another one:
- I had a guest post @ Frugal Dad called Make Your Home Office Productive AND Comfortable. Jason had recently written a post on “Five Strategies To Make Space Around Your Home More Productive” so I thought it tied together very well with his post. Check them out!
- The Simple Dollar had a “yellow” weekly roundup that mentioned two of my posts. Trent directly linked to “How Much Did That Shower Cost? Use a Low-Flow Shower Head!” He called it an excellent analysis of low-flow shower heads. He also linked my guest post at Studenomics, Find a Mentor Using the DISC Method calling it an insightful way to evaluate mentors. So check both posts out if you haven’t already!
- MainStreet.com honored me by mentioning one of my articles. They included my article Save Money On Gas By Knowing Your Cars Cost Per Mile (Thanks Fuelly!). Check out the other links in the roundup as they are all very good!
Other articles I enjoyed:
- Money Vs. Career Satisfaction: Which do you Choose? @ 20 Something Finance. If you remember, I had a similar article about student loans driving your career.
- Your Money Relationship : I’m Addicted to Soda (and Spending Lots of Money On It). He is quitting because of health concerns, primarily, but goes over the financial implications, too!
- How Much Should I Spend on Housing? @ Saving for Serenity. Alan goes over a budget and how much should be spent on housing and other items.
- Gather Little by Little: More thoughts on short sale, foreclosure and bankruptcy. I just had to comment on one of the statements that their are moral implications of not paying your mortgage. Maybe I am alone here, but I look at a mortgage as a contractual agreement where both parties have agreed to terms and repurcussions if the other end does not fulfill their side of the bargain. The mortgage companies charge more to compensate for the risk that you default, and you give the house back if you do. I guess this argument could go on for days, though!
- 67 Ways NOT To Sell A Car @ ManVsDebt. This article gained a lot of traction in Digg. It is a light-hearted and humorous read, so take a gander!
- Money Energy - The Real Costs of Graduate School. A lot of people treat graduate school as a “safe bet.” They don’t realize the actual costs, though, so I thought it was a great post.
Ta-da! Hope you enjoy all of the links and have a chance to take a look at both my guest posts and mentions from those all-star blogs!
Hope your Memorial Day weekend is going great!

Thanks for the mention! I am now on day 7 without a drop of soda! The headaches have passed and I think I can continue this journey smoothly.

@Adam,
Wow, I never drink that much soda so I have never had those withdrawal symptoms before. Kind of crazy, eh?
Let us know how your health improves on this journey! I’ve heard of people losing 10-15 pounds just by cutting soda out of their diet!
