Welcome to the 5th installation of the Friday webcomics.
Networking is a pretty important career aid. However, I feel that it is difficult for a lot of Gen Y’ers due to the fact that they are fresh out of college and lack some of the professionalism people expect (obviously not everyone, but it is common). The thing is I don’t think its intentional… I just think a lot of people are used to the existence of the glass society so they don’t change their behavior (does it make sense to change your main facebook picture to you bonging a beer?).
However, when going into the workforce it would do everyone a benefit to check the etiquette rules and make sure that we aren’t leaving too much of ourselves out there.

As you all know I am away in the Dominican Republic this week. Hopefully all my posts have been posted as scheduled up until this point. I thought that this week would be a perfect opportunity to introduce you to another pretty new PF blogger. He writes very well and touches on some great subject matter! His name is Roger from The Amateur Financier. Hope you enjoy his post (which I think is great especially if you are a highschooler, are a parent of a highschooler, or know a highschooler), and feel free to check him out or subscribe to his RSS feed!
If you’re a high school student, chances are that planning for your financial future is pretty low on your list of priorities, somewhere between studying Latin and mowing the lawn. But if you get started now, you’ll be amazed at how much more prepared you will be with only a few simple steps. Here are three things I wish I had done while I was still in school:

As you all know I am away in the Dominican Republic this week. Rob Bennet offered to write some guest posts for a bunch of PF bloggers in order to get his message out (which is a very logical, well-thought out message at that!). Rob Bennett writes the A Rich Life blog. He has recorded over 75 podcasts on things he has learned about stock investing during his seven years of participation in The Great Safe Withdrawal Rate Debate (a series of discussions of stock investing held in the Retire Early and Indexing discussion-board communities). Enjoy!
I learned how to invest in an unusual way. I didn’t do it by reading books. I didn’t do it by listening to experts. I didn’t do it by reading books. I didn’t do it by listening to experts. I didn’t do it by hiring a financial planner. I did it by learning how to save.
It works! I’m far ahead of all the indexes dating back to 1996, the year when my learning process began.

This is part of a 3 post series which I will dedicate to saving money by spending money on technology. I consider my blog a personal finance blog with a fusion of many areas of interest that promote good finances, learning, and happiness. I hope these posts are not too tech-y and help a few of you out!
Post 1: Save Money by Connecting Your Computer to Your Television
Post 2: Save Money and Make Your Xbox 360 Wireless for $20
Post 3: Save Money by Streaming Television Through Your Xbox 360 or PS3
You can read my first post where I gave an outline of how to stream television shows and movies from your computer to your TV. In this post I will go over how to stream television shows and movies onto your TV using an Xbox 360 or a Playstation 3.
Why would you want to do this instead of the former?

As the little “alert box” shows up above the post I am on vacation this week. I have decided to drop off the face of the planet from this past Friday to this upcoming Friday.
Drop off the face of the planet, you ask? Yep, I am going to the Dominican Republic. Some people call it a third world country. Others call it paradise. I guess it depends whether you are living there or at a 5-star hotel for a destination wedding :p.
Even though I will be gone all week, I have scheduled all my posts so the posting schedule should remain consistent unless Wordpress decides to play games and miss my scheduled postings (which it is apparently notorious for doing in the most recent version).
